Jesus stood in the temple one day and quoted from the book of Isaiah with these words of Luke 4:18-19. He declared that the Spirit of God was upon Him to do certain things. We are the body of Christ today. The Spirit of the Lord is upon his (many membered) body today for the same reason.
Let's boldly declare the "mission statement" of Jesus everyday:
Because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
