The Christian Church Family is a very important part of our Christian life. We were never designed by God to live unto or by ourselves. God sets the solitary in families (Psalm 68:6). Just as a natural family is important to our growth and well being, so a spiritual family is vital to our spiritual growth and well being.
Children of God Need To Be Trained
No matter how old we are, our Heavenly Father still regards us as His children
.
"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26
God has given us the Five-fold ministry to equip us to be effective and fruitful in His Kingdom.
"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."
Ephesians 4:11-12
Caring for One Another
The Church is not a building or a facility. It is comprised of people who have allowed Jesus Christ to be the Lord of their lives. We are called to diligently care for one another.
"Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord." Romans 12:10-11
"For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you ministered to the saints, and do minister." Hebrews 6:10
Church Involvement
The Scriptures emphasize that it is very important for Christians to spend time together and share in each other's lives by jointly participating in all areas of Church life (i.e. worship, prayer, Scripture study, etc.).
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25
We all need to experience body life. There is a dynamic that takes place in a local church that is absolutely important to our growth and maturity. Our personal realionship with God is of supreme importance but our relationship with the rest of His body is also vital to what God desires to do in each one of our lives. We each need to let God plant us in a local church and develop healthy relationships with the rest of the body of Christ.
"Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God." Psalm 92:13
